Q. Is online bill paying cost effective?
A. Yes. When you compare the monthly fee of $5.95 to the
cost of $5.55 for 15 stamps, there is only a $0.40 difference. This
$0.40 will buy you the ease and convenience of online bill paying
and electronic bill delivery.
Q. Who can I pay with SpectrumConnect?
A. Pay anyone in the US, from recurring payments, like mortgages
and utilities, to occasional expenses, like the gardener, donations,
and magazine subscriptions. You cannot make tax payments or payments
pursuant to court orders.
Q. Can I use my paper checks and SpectrumConnect for the same
account?
A. Yes, you can. SpectrumConnect is like a second checkbook
for your account. SpectrumConnect will assign unique check numbers,
starting with 5001, to your online bill payments so you can distinguish
them for paper checks.
Q. How will my bill payments be sent to my payees?
A. Payments will be sent either electronically or by paper
check. Electronic payments will be sent on your scheduled payment
date; paper checks will be mailed 4 business days prior to the scheduled
payment date.
Q. What is e-billing?
A. Via your SpectrumConnect Account, you may be able to receive
bills electronically from your vendors instead of receiving paper
bills. This is sometimes referred to as electronic bill delivery
or presentment. Paying an e-bill is just a click of the mouse.
Q. Will I be able to see detailed information on my e-bill?
A. Yes. E-bills contain the same information as paper bills.
Q. How current is the payment history?
A. History is current as of the close of the previous business
day. You can obtain history as far back as six months. And your
payment history can be downloaded to Microsoft Money or Quicken
for budgeting and reporting purposes.
Q. When will payments be deducted from my account?
A. You must schedule your payment as least 4 business days
before the actual due date. If the payment is made electronically
money remains in your account until the payment date (the date the
payee is scheduled to receive the payment). If the payment is made
by paper check, money remains in your account until the payee cashes
the paper check.
Q. What happens if my bills are paid late even though I scheduled
it for the right date?
A. You will not be responsible for any late payments incurred
if you scheduled the payment date and address correctly. We will
pay for the late fees incurred.
Q. How secure is this information?
A. Your transactions are completely secure and pass through
firewall network security management. All connections are made via
128-bit browser. And when you enroll in SpectrumConnect, you will
be assigned a PIN that allows only you to gain access to your account.
Q. Will I be charged the monthly minimum service fee even if
I don't make use of SpectrumConnect during the month?
A. Yes, the minimum monthly fee is charged just like your
telephone or cable bill, whether you use the service or not.
Q. What do I need to use SpectrumConnect web bill pay?
A. You do need Internet access and Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher
or Netscape 4.0 or higher.
Q. How do I sign up?
A. Fill out an application and mail it in. A welcome letter
will be mailed to you, followed by the PIN letter. Further instructions
are available through Online Help.
